Coding and Civil Air Patrol

Target audience: Elementary, middle and high school teachers

Learn about free resources to teach your students to code! We will explore Binary Code, Scratch Programming, Code.org, Khan Academy, BeeBots and Probots, Spheros, and other online resources. Attendees will need to have a google account in order to fully participate.

Also learn about the resources available to educators from the Civil Air Patrol (CAP). You can teach ordinary subjects in extraordinary ways with help from CAP! Aerospace Education Members of CAP are eligible to receive free STEM kits in Astronomy, Robotics, Rocketry, Flight Simulation and Remote Control Aircraft.

Elementary Computer Teacher

Sherilyn Dawson has been teaching for 17 years. She is the 2018 Air Force Assoc. National 3rd place Teacher of the Year, TN State Teacher of the Year, General Bruce K. Holloway Chapter Teacher of the Year, 2017 Tennessee Wing Civil Air Patrol Aerospace Teacher of the Year. She incorporates math and science in her project based lessons. She says it's easy to introduce higher level concepts in elementary and get the students to own being a problem solver who can figure it out!
