Design Thinking Workshop

Target audience: Elementary, middle and high school teachers

This workshop is designed for teachers in grades 2-12 to be introduced to the process of design thinking in the K-12 education setting. Teachers will learn about the steps of design thinking, experience design challenges through the perspective of a student, and brainstorm ways to integrate the design thinking process into their classrooms. The workshop will focus on topics such as problem solving, product creation, and makerspace.

Emily Butterfield, 6th Grade Science and Lead Teacher, Bearden Middle School

Emily Butterfield has been teaching for 12 years in a variety of content areas, with the last 4 years teaching 6th grade Science at an IB World School.  Emily has a passion for Personalized Learning, Challenge Based Learning, and Design Thinking. She leads a Personalized Learning Demonstration classroom for Knox County Schools.  Emily is excited about helping other teachers find ways to inspire, instruct, and succeed.
