Design Thinking Workshop

Target audience: Elementary, middle and high school teachers

This workshop is designed for teachers in grades 2-12 to be introduced to the process of design thinking in the K-12 education setting. Teachers will learn about the steps of design thinking, experience design challenges through the perspective of a student, and brainstorm ways to integrate the design thinking process into their classrooms. The workshop will focus on topics such as problem solving, product creation, and makerspace. This is a two day workshop.

Emily Butterfield, 6th Grade Science and Lead Teacher, Bearden Middle School

Emily Butterfield has been teaching for 12 years in a variety of content areas, with the last 4 years teaching 6th grade Science at an IB World School.  Emily has a passion for Personalized Learning, Challenge Based Learning, and Design Thinking. She leads a Personalized Learning Demonstration classroom for Knox County Schools.  Emily is excited about helping other teachers find ways to inspire, instruct, and succeed.
