Oak Ridge Robotics Academy

The Oak Ridge Robotics Academy is a week-long day camp for rising 7th, 8th, and 9th grade students filled with exciting and challenging activities. Working in small teams, students will design, build and program a robot. Students will have an opportunity to tour Oak Ridge National Laboratory’s research facilities and learn from robotics and engineering research scientists.

Why Robotics Academy?

The Robotics Academy pairs students together to complete engineering challenges that encourage the students to solve a problem in a creative way. This builds problem-solving and critical thinking skills required in today’s world.

Meet your instructor: Tad Douce

Tad Douce has served as a classroom teacher, instructional coach and administrator since beginning his career in 1996. He started his career as a middle school pre-engineering instructor in central Ohio and has authored four project books for Ohio 4-H in the area of robotics, along with numerous online engineering tutorials. In 2011, he was awarded the Professor George Schneider, Jr. Manufacturing Technology Education Faculty Award from the Society of Manufacturing Engineers - Education Foundation. Tad is the executive director of the 501c3, EduEverything, Inc., where he also serves as director of events for the National Robotics Challenge and Drones in School. His great purpose is to help people find their passions and unleash their full potential.
